Getting to know you

When I started this blog, I was excited to be able to include polls. Why polls? glad you asked. I think it's a fun way to get to know each other. There has been such an explosion in blogging and connecting online, but yet, we are all still strangers. Every day I read some of my favorite blogs, and sometimes feel like I really KNOW the writer. All comfortable in my ergonomical chair, conversing with my computer monitor, laughing out loud and shouting "you-go-girls", as if, the blog author were sitting in front of me. But see, they dont know who I am. And, I dont know who some of you are, and, well, that takes this whole "connectedness" thing and makes it a bit cold, and impersonal. How ironic, to be sharing what's inside our brain, all of the little idiosyncracies of life, things that are typically reserved for our best girl friends, and have it be with strangers.

So, I thought polls were a great, "getting to know you" kind of a tool. Something informal, kinda fun, a way to see glimpses of each other.

And, I want you to be a part of it. So, now is your chance to suggest a poll question.

It should have a question, and at least 3 response options. Ill pick a winner and post it up as our weekly poll tomorrow morning.

It's a contest, and the winner will get a Starbucks gift card. So, put your entry in the guestbook, make sure it has your name or email so I can contact you.

It starts NOW and will end promptly at 8pm PST.

Ready.....GO!

Ok, I'll go first because as a relative I will probably be disqualified as a winner but the poll might be a fun one anyway.

Since your last entry was about shoes, it made me think about how shoes have evolved over the years since you were a little girl. This particular poll question couldn't have been asked when you were a kidlet.

When purchasing shoes for young children, which closure option do you prefer:

1. Shoe laces
2. Slide on
3. Velcro
4. None of the above (let them go barefoot

When I catch myself staring off into space, I'm usually thinking about:
a. a bottomless lake of chocolate. with a fountain in the middle.
b. how old I turned on my last birthday...?
c. snuggling into a warm, soft bed. with 800-thread-count sheets. and silence.
d. adding things to my mental grocery list. detergent, check. toilet paper, check.
e. who says I'm thinking??

oh how fun (I found you via Ree) mind if I play?

Ok three things you will do for your self when the kids go back to school.

1) get your toes done

2) run the kids to school and it will actually be more hectic

3) watch soaps and eat bon bons

Sounds like a fun idea! I found your link on Ree's site too. =)

You've been given a day all to yourself and ordered to do no housework of any kind. What do you spend the next eight hours doing?

a. Resting at home with a good book, movies, and a nap.

b. Shopping at stores that do not sell diapers, toys, or clothing in sizes ending in "T" or "X"

c. Lunch with friends (with no potty breaks or the need to cut anyone else's food)

d. Day of beauty (mani/pedi, haircut, massage, etc.)

...I like Grandma's...I would have to go with "let them go barefoot!" But here is one that I am always interested in since I teach:

Homework in the lower primary grades should be:

A. Work the kids can do
independently.
B. Work that requires parent help.
C. Monthly family projects
D. No homework- give the kids a
break!
